Today I happened to catch the launch of the 2008 TNM Super League, Malawi’s professional football (soccer) league. The match was between the Blantyre Big Bullets and the Lilongwe Silver Strikers, which hail from the two largest cities in the country. How about those names?!?! Hilarious.
The match was packed with hordes or people and I was standing, wedged in at the back row of fans encircling the stadium seating, which proved to be an unfortunate position as I checked my pocket after the start of the second half only to realize my cell phone had been pick-pocketed… sucks. With no taxi numbers, I left a bit early to catch a minibus home before dark, with Blantyre winning 1-0. Glad to see the game nonetheless.
